Elvis Aron Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, January 8, 1935 to Gladys Love and Vernon Elvis Presley. His twin brother Jesse Garon Presley died at birth. When Elvis was eight, the family moved to Memphis to find work. It was in Memphis where the legend was to become the American Dream as dirty poor young man changed the course of music for his baby-boomer generation and future generations. It seems to most, if not all, that Elvis never left us. Not a day goes by when there isn't something that jogs our memory of him - not that our memories need such a jog. Why, at least one of our American presidents met him! We know it was Elvis who was the one honored in meeting the political leader, but it most likely was mutual on both sides.
